i have an 8.0 hotsails superfreak, good low end, kind of long boom(220), no cam sail. would this work on the 295 for light wind freesailing, or does this board deserve a cam sail? thanks.

Hi Unregistered,
Recommend 2 cam sail minimum for this board, the top is the Severne Race-Board sail in 8.5. All the best

I currently use also a Superfreak 8 with a Mistral Ventura 2009 343-240 litres when the wind is medium, when it's superlight I rig an HSM Stealth, camless.
Superfreak has not the stability of a dedicated raceboard sail, obviously, but imho has other advanteges, in handling and rigging |

I use the phantom for racing and wouldn't use anything but camed sails. If you are not racing, then I can't see why you wouldn't use what ever you feel like using or alread own. All the sails are a balance of power, weight, stability, price, etc. I have the phantom 8.5 sail which Remi recomended and is a very nice balance of power and weight and works well in strong and light wind. I would also recomend it.
You shouldn't buy it because the board deserves it. you should buy it if the sail you have is not meeting some need that you have. |

I recommended this board to a customer and his wife who has started windsurfing two years ago with the a medium RIO and a 6.0 synergy setup .
They are looking for something faster but do not yet know any shortboarding skills, and feel the 6.0 is just right for there needs ( that will change in a few years i am sure). They wanted the kode tuffskin with the centre fin option but i think this would be too aggressive for them. They will use the board at a vacation cottage and launch from a point of land in the lake they are located on, and need to get back to that launch point. The 295 gives them the ability to get back upwind when the wind dies, and is wide and stable enough with the dagger down , so they can adapt to the board from the RIO easy and get back to home base. BUT when the wind picks up they can really let it fly. J Herne, Wildwinds Windsurfing. Canada |

Hi J Herne,
In this case Ok it a nice board also to progress but didn't specify why he buy this board. When he will have enough skill he can just change sail for a more performance one and it will be very surprise how fast this board can go and how fun is it ![]() All the best
