Hello,
i have a 121 isonic (wood carbon) from 2010. Can the board handle a 9,3m sail? According to the specs on the website this wouldn't be a problem since the sail range goes up to 9.5for this board, but is this really the case? Thank you in advance for an answer Kind regards Jean |

Hi Jean,
My brother has this board and in light wind or when it’s tricky he use his Reflex 9,7 with big success. The sail is on the edge of curse and there are some signs of discomfort, but he even won our local slalom event against strong slalom guys who were using 8,6 sails. The fin is also important to combine it with sail. All the best Gediminas |

Yes Jean, you can use a big sail on the board, but you should set your board up with a 46 to 48 cm long fin.
Cheers, Chris

I agree with the two replies above. I primarily use my 2010 isonic 121 with a 9.0 and 46 cm fin (I weigh 78 kg). That setup is really well balanced for me so the 9.3 should be great for you.

I also agree with most of the answers above, but I would like to add that the wind conditions and your weight play also an important role.
My 2008 IS122 has only 114L of volume and my old 9.5 sail became rather heavy on it when there was not enough wind to easily plane, making the board going very deep in the water with my 87 kg. The 2010 IS121 has 117L, I believe. With enough wind to easily plane without pumping, a 9.X sail works great on this board. Cheers.
