Dear surf addicts,
I'm doubting between the iSonic 87 or a 80 2012 the question is what is the difference between these two? I know that the width and thickness slightly differ from each other but what is the best board for me? I sail this board with a Reflex II 6.2 and a 7.0 and i am 1.90 meters and weight 94 kg, i sail on (large) lakes and at sea. With kind regards, Nathan

Hi Nathan, not team here.
A couple of things for you to consider. But I have not tried the 2012 iS80/86 so only guess work from me ![]() 1: If you are happy with the size of your existing iS86 then stick with the 2012 iS87. 2: The iS87 is heavy weights high wind slalom board, iS80 is light/med weight high wind slalom board. 94kg is heavy weight, so iS87 best. 3: Max sail size for iS87 is 7m, Max sail size fr iS80 is 6.5m. Your 7m Reflex would feel nicer on the iS87. I have not seen the the iS80, older iS76 used to have more nose rocker than the old iS87, this gave the old iS87 higher speed potential. Not sure if the iS80 has more nose rocker than the iS87. Just my 2 cents worth

I would definitely go for the 87. The 80 is basically the same shape as the 87 with less volume. There isn't a huge top end difference between the 2 boards. The 87 will be better for your weight, easier to plane out of jibes and you can use your 7.0 on it.

Hi Nathan,
With your weight you definitelly make the good choice, but just for info for OZI the shape are different with more vee and different flat to be more easy for light racers on extrem conditions ![]() All the best
