I have a board from 1983. Been in the garage since then. Now cleaning out the garage. Is a board this old good for anything?

It depends -
Short board? Long board? Brand / model? Poly? Glass? Condition? Have the original rig?

never diss an old board man. I own an ancient Klepper and a way too old Ten Cate scipper which, with a few adjustment still provide me a sweet ride in low winds with my new sails (alternation at mastfoot for compatibilety with modern clicking systems)
What board is it? Got any pics?
