I bought a 2008 model Drake Fin 36 cm and i had a lot of spin outs. It was also very diffcult to stop it. With other sizes (year 2006) i have almost no problems. And if there are, then they are easily to stop. I can change the model 2008 for 2009.The 2009 model has a white base.
Is that the difference? Or are in the 2008 models the composition from the material not homogeneous? Spin outs in choppy water because only a small part of the fin is in the water and is then not capable to resist the pressure. I red that some are satisfeid others not. Some people sandpaper the text. If this can cause a problem, why leave it not a way? Sorry for my english i still hope that my question is clear. The 2010 Isonic models have no fins. Has this to do with many complains about the Drake Fins? |

Jan W,
I have two '08 drake fins, 38 and 44 cm (iSonic 111) and they have really bad spin out problems. I sanded them with no improvement. I don't know if they have been improved or not. I bought a tectonics tomcat 42 fin and love it. People that buy iSonics are generally racers and most will buy custom fins to race. The Drake fins don't get used, so why include them with new race boards.

Ken,
Thanks for your comment. Still the question remains or the 2009 models are the same or has been changed. I red a comment from Ian Fox in which he said ,that the 2009 models had been updated for some constructional and process upgrades. Maybe Ian Fox can explain it. And i hope he will say, the 2009 are surely better because...... Mister Fox give me please an answer, because i have still an opportunity to change the fin for a 2009 model. But if your advice is negative, then i have to test other fins. |

Mister Fox , it is a pity, that i have not received an answer till so far.
Because i had no confidence in the 2008 model i changed it for model 2009. I hope, that i can test it this season. Now it is too cold in Holland. If the result is positive or negatve i will let you know. |
