The global paddle season is ON — and we’re kicking it off in true Starboard style. With the launch of our all-new Gen R flat-deck race board, we’re inviting paddlers everywhere to grab their paddle, track their sessions, and join the ride.
To celebrate, we’re teaming up with Waterspeed App, the go-to performance tracking app for watersports, to bring you a challenge that’s open to everyone, everywhere. All you need to do is paddle 5 km and log it in the app — and you could win the new Gen R and other epic prizes.

HOW TO JOIN?
Step 1
Download the Waterspeed App.
Track your paddle like a pro. Available on iOS and Android.
Step 2
Open the app and go to the Community tab.
Join the Starboard Gen R 5K Challenge and start logging your sessions.
Paddle 5 km – anytime, anywhere, on any SUP (composite or inflatable, any brand). Track your session using Waterspeed app. You can record multiple sessions — we’ll enter your best one, but everyone who completes a 5K is eligible to win.
Step 3
Follow Starboard SUP on Instagram, YouTube, and subscribe to our newsletter. Stay connected for challenge updates and the winner reveal.
Step 4
Wait for the Draw. Once the challenge closes on 13 July, we’ll pick the winner at random from all qualified entries.

T&Cs
1. No purchase is necessary to enter the challenge.
2. This competition is open internationally to individuals aged 18 years or over. Employees of the Promoter, its parent company, subsidiaries, affiliates, or other parties, including but not limited to Starboard and Waterspeed, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, children) and household members of each such employee, are not eligible to win the prizes.
3. This challenge will commence at 00:01 CET on 13 June 2025, and all entries must be received by 23:59 CET on 13 July 2025. Starboard accepts no responsibility for any entries that are incomplete, illegible, corrupted, or fail to reach Starboard by the relevant closing date for any reason. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt. Entries via agents or third parties are invalid.
4. To enter, participants must:
• Join the “Gen R 5K Challenge” via the Waterspeed app
• Record and complete a 5 km paddle session during the Challenge Period
• Follow @starboardsup on Instagram and YouTube
• Subscribe to the Starboard newsletter
5. Participants may record and submit multiple 5K sessions during the challenge period. However, only their fastest session will be considered, and only one entry per participant will be eligible for the prize draw.
6. The challenge can be completed using any type of stand-up paddle board – including inflatable or composite boards, and from any brand.
7. Starboard’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
8. The prizes are non-transferable and no cash alternative will be offered.
9. Prizes are subject to availability. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, Starboard reserves the right to (a) substitute alternative prizes of equivalent or greater value and (b) in exceptional circumstances to amend or cancel the promotion without notice.
10. The grand prize includes one (1) Starboard Gen R Blue Carbon Sandwich board, with the winner able to select their preferred size from the available range. Five additional winners will each receive a Waterspeed PRO account subscription.
11. The winner will be contacted shortly after 13 July 2025 via email or social media DM. The winner must claim their prize within 7 days of notification. If the prize is unclaimed after this time, it will lapse and Starboard reserves the right to offer the prize to a substitute winner selected in accordance with these rules.
12. The competition is open worldwide; however, the grand prize is subject to availability and shipping feasibility in the winner’s location. Due to production and delivery timelines, delivery may take up to 6 months from the date of winner confirmation.
13. The winner will be responsible for covering any import duties, taxes, customs fees, or other local charges applicable in their country of residence.
14. By entering this competition, each entrant confirms that their entry is their own. All GPS data or performance records must be genuine and recorded by the participant during the challenge period. Any attempt at cheating or falsifying entries will result in disqualification.
15. Entrants will keep Starboard and Waterspeed harmless from any claims that the entry infringes the personal or proprietary rights of any other person.
16. Starboard and Waterspeed will not give out or sell personal data submitted during the challenge to any third party. All personal information will be used in accordance with relevant privacy laws.
17. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram, Facebook, or any other social platform. All data is submitted to Starboard, not to these platforms.
18. The winners agree to take part in reasonable post-challenge publicity and allow Starboard and Waterspeed to use their name, social handle, photos, and submitted tracking data for promotional purposes.
19. By entering the competition, each entrant agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.
