WORLD SAILING’S ONE DESIGN WINGFOILING CLASS

With a focus on development programs for young riders, female athletes and emerging nations, the X-15 Class will inspire everyone to travel the world and bring home World Sailing medals to their local clubs and countries.

The most popular classes in sailing and windsurfing are “one design”; it’s more fun and fair to race on the same equipment. The X-15 Class features cutting-edge designs in durable hi-tech materials, such as a full Ultra-PE airframe or our innovative Ultra-X canopy.

Each age group has a max wing size as well as a smaller wing alternative for stormy days.

PURPOSE-DESIGNED LEADING EDGE

The relatively large diameter leading edge helps to create more lift in light winds and increased stability in high winds, covering a large wind spectrum suitable for one-design racing.

OPTIMISED AIRFRAME OUTLINE

A medium aspect ratio and shorter wing tips makes the wing easy to pump without tips touching the water while being more maneuverable through tacks and gybes.

RACE-OPTIMISED DIHEDRAL

The leading edge features a 12.5° dihedral providing a true vertical upper side of the wing when fully powered, maximising the wing’s effective surface area.

REEF ZIPPER TECH

The 4m² and 4.5m² wing canopies can be reduced by 20% through the use of our Reef Zipper Tech, allowing for a greater wind range whilst reducing the cost of entering fair racing.

HIGH VISIBILITY FOR SAFETY

The bright red canopy colors makes it easier to spot riders in critical moments. Double window design on each side of the wing creates good overall safety view and minimal material stretch.

FLUTTER-FREE FLIGHT

Six stiff fibreglass battens are strategically positioned on the trailing edge, which paired with the perfectly tensioned rear Ultra-X section of the canopy make for an incredibly silent and flutter-free ride regardless of the wind strength.

LIGHT-COLOURED LEADING EDGE

A light-coloured leading edge keeps PSI stable in the sun, reflecting heat to prevent overinflation and extend the wing’s lifespan. *A black leading edge goes from 10-13 PSI in the sun, while cool white or grey only goes from 10-10.5 PSI.

DUAL PUSH-TURN VALVES

User-friendly max flow push-turn valves offer easy inflation and deflation, while separated strut and leading edge inflation points let you fine-tune pressures separately for maximum performance and customisation in changing conditions and disciplines. *Lighter riders might wish for less PSI in the LE than heavier riders and in high winds, PSI can be reduced for less power.

PISTOL GRIP BOOM (SOLD SEPERATELY)

Choose between Prepreg UD Carbon or Aluminium Pistol Grip booms based on your budget and preference. The ergonomic, soft-touch design offers semi-flagged control, easier tacking and gybing, excellent roll control, and a non-slip, comfortable grip for longer sessions.

WING WAIST LEASH (INCLUDED)

All Starboard wings come standard with a durable waist leash for safety, comfort, and hands-free movement, keeping your wing secure while keeping your arms free. A wrist leash cuff is also available as an interchangeable aftermarket part for those who prefer it.

WING BAG (INCLUDED)

Our vented wing bag accommodates your wing, a pump, accessories and fits a full 109 cm long boom inside while still attached to your wing so that you don't need to remove it when on the move. Made in partnership with Waste2Wear using recycled plastic bottles.

4M² (U15 / U17 – Strong wind option)

Built as a dedicated strong-wind weapon, the 4m² delivers compact power, fast response, and confident control when conditions turn on. Its HTD 160 high-tenacity Dacron airframe ensures durability and reliability, giving U15–U17 riders a stable, confidence-boosting option for stormy race days.

4.5M² (U13)

Designed to welcome young riders into competitive wingfoiling, the 4.5m² offers smooth, manageable power with exceptional stability. The HTD 160 high-tenacity Dacron airframe keeps the wing lightweight, tough, and forgiving—perfect for U13 riders learning technique, balance, and control while progressing fast.

5M² (U15)

The 5m² strikes the ideal balance between efficiency and control for U15 racers. Delivering consistent pull and predictable handling, it supports developing riders as they refine starts, transitions, and race tactics. Built with an HTD 160 high-tenacity Dacron airframe, it’s made to withstand heavy use while keeping performance accessible.

5.5M² (U17)

As competition intensifies, the 5.5m² steps up with a premium Ho‘okipa airframe engineered for higher loads, faster response, and enhanced stability. Designed specifically for U17 athletes, this wing meets the demands of riders pushing harder, riding faster, and extracting maximum performance from every gust.

6M² (U19 / Senior Women)

The 6m² is tuned for powerful, efficient performance across a wide wind range. Featuring the premium Ho‘okipa airframe, it delivers smooth power delivery, excellent upwind efficiency, and race-day reliability. Purpose-built for U19 and senior women, it supports confident starts and consistent speed at the highest level of competition.

6.5M² (Senior Men)

Designed for heavier riders and maximum race efficiency, the 6.5m² offers commanding power without sacrificing control. Its Ho‘okipa airframe provides exceptional stiffness and durability, enabling senior men to generate early lift, maintain speed through lulls, and perform at the peak of one-design racing performance.

Ultra-light front luff canopy section (55 GSM) — Allows a 10% overall weight reduction, smoother power delivery and a forward-driving sensation due to front expansion.

ULTRA-X (canopy – trailing edge)
Starboard-exclusive high-tech laminate co-developed with Challenge Sailcloth™ (86 GSM) — 4× more durable than traditional woven canopy. On the trailing edge, 3-layer Ultra-X prevents foil tip tears from propagating, limits stretch, and keeps the wing responsive and crisp session after session.

REEF ZIPPER TECH (4.0m² & 4.5m² only)
The first wing to feature a reduceable canopy size, Reef Zipper Tech by Starboard allows the wing to be easily and rapidly reduced by 1m² (for sizes 4.0m² & 4.5m² only). This design feature allows a single wing to be used in greater wind range, eliminating the need for wing quivers and greatly reducing the cost of entering fair racing.
