Speed was back on the menu in La Palme, France, as some of the world’s fastest windsurfers gathered at Plage du Rouet for the Prince of Speed – Farrel Cup. Known for its strong Tramontana winds and flat-water speed conditions, the spot once again provided the stage for riders to push their equipment and themselves to the limit.

Starboard rider Matteo Iachino made the most of the opportunity, showing his versatility across both foil and fin throughout the event. On the foil, Matteo delivered the standout performance, putting together consistently fast runs to claim the victory in the windfoil category on the Starboard X-15 85. 

But his speed wasn’t limited to flying above the water. Matteo was also seriously quick on the fin, switching disciplines and putting down some impressive runs on his Starboard iSONIC Speed 45. It was another demonstration of the all-round speed that has made him one of the leading names in modern racing.

The Prince of Speed is all about pure speed — finding the right line, staying in control and pushing harder with every run. For Matteo, it was also a great opportunity to step away from the traditional racecourse and focus simply on going as fast as possible.

"I'm really happy about the result because I actually was not planning to go at all. I was focusing only on foil for Sylt and last minute I decided to join the event. I had really good performance on the fin and it also allowed me to test some small foil gear before the World Cup. Overall the experience was really good and helpful and also to get ready for Sylt."

And the timing couldn’t be much better. The Farrel Cup provided the perfect high-speed warm-up ahead of the PWA World Cup in Sylt, where Matteo will return to racing for another important stop on the Slalom Foil World Tour.

After taking the foil win in France and showing plenty of pace on the fin, Matteo now heads to Sylt with some serious speed under his feet and ready for the next battle on the racecourse.
