Starboard rider Ryu Noguchi takes the top spot at the legendary Ho'okipa Beach, securing the 2026 Aloha Classic Pro Junior Boys title and moving into the lead of the World Wave Tour rankings.
The 2026 Aloha Classic delivered an exciting start to the competition in Maui, with chest-to-head-high waves and cross-offshore winds setting the stage for some impressive wave riding. Among the standout performers was 19-year-old Japanese talent Ryu Noguchi, who claimed victory in the Pro Junior Boys division.

Competing at one of the most iconic wave sailing locations in the world, Ryu showed an impressive combination of speed, powerful aerials, and aggressive turns. The Pro Junior title was decided across three final heats, where Ryu delivered a remarkably consistent performance, scoring one heat victory and two second-place finishes to secure the overall win.
The competition was tight, with France's Cesar Filippi finishing second and Germany's Leon Maethner taking third. However, Ryu's consistency across all three finals proved decisive.
Having chosen the Starboard Hyper 74 for the waves of Maui, Ryu has continued to demonstrate his talent in demanding wave conditions. The Hyper's down-the-line wave riding focus makes it a natural fit for the powerful surf that Ho'okipa is famous for.

Beyond adding another prestigious title to his achievements, the result also puts Ryu at the top of the Pro Junior World Wave Tour rankings, heading into the season's Grand Final in Chile this November.
A huge congratulations to Ryu on an outstanding performance in Maui! We're excited to see him continue pushing the limits and making his mark on the international wave sailing scene.
