June 2026 marked a special moment in European windsurfing as Surfcenter celebrated its 50th anniversary in Groningen, Netherlands. What began in 1976 as a small local windsurf shop has grown into one of the most recognized watersports communities in Northern Europe, inspiring generations of sailors to get on the water.

The anniversary celebration brought together windsurfers of all ages, from young beginners to lifelong enthusiasts, highlighting the strong community spirit that has always been at the heart of the sport. According to Björn Dunkerbeck, the event was a fantastic gathering of families and even multiple generations of windsurfers sharing the same passion.

Adding to the occasion was the presence of windsurfing legend Björn Dunkerbeck. With 41 world titles to his name, Björn joined the celebrations, meeting fans, sharing stories from the golden years of windsurfing, and helping inspire the next generation of riders. His long-standing commitment to growing the sport perfectly matched Surfcenter's mission of bringing more people back onto the water.
As Surfcenter looks ahead to its next chapter, the 50-year celebration served as a reminder of what makes windsurfing special: the people, the friendships, and the shared stoke that continues to unite riders across generations.
