We’re excited to welcome Fabian Wolf to the Starboard Dream Team for 2026. Based in Kiel, Fabian has made his mark in both slalom and foil slalom racing, highlighted by his Formula Foil World Championship title at Lake Garda. Known for his focused racing mindset and deep understanding of speed and strategy, he’s ready to take the next step alongside Starboard.

"I’ve been working extremely hard over the past years, putting in countless training hours, and the results clearly showed where I belong at this level."

Who is Fabian Wolf and what we can expect in 2026?

Tell us more about yourself. When did you start windsurfing? What is your home spot and how did you discover windsurfing?

I’m Fabian Wolf, a German slalom windsurfer sailing under the number GER-404 and internationally known on the PWA Tour as “THE WOLF”. I started windsurfing around 2007, when I was about eight or nine years old. My first experiences on the water were on the northern island of Föhr, close to Sylt, where I discovered my passion for the sport.
For many years, until I turned 18, windsurfing was mainly a hobby during family holidays. That changed once I finished school and got my driver’s license. I quickly moved to Kiel to be as close to the water as possible and to maximize my training time.
I’m still living in Kiel today, and my home spots are basically all around the area. I especially enjoy sailing on the Baltic Sea with easterly winds, when it gets nicely wavy. From summer onwards, seaweed can become quite challenging, so we often switch to the surrounding lakes to keep training consistently.

Joining the Starboard International Team for 2026 is a big milestone. What does this moment represent in your journey as an athlete?

Joining the Starboard International Team for 2026 is a huge milestone for me and represents a very important step in my journey as an athlete. I’ve been working extremely hard over the past years, putting in countless training hours, and the results clearly showed where I belong at this level.
Over the last two seasons, I made a big step forward already riding Starboard equipment, thanks to the strong support of the national distributor APM-Marketing. Because of that continuous progress, it was really just a matter of time until the international team took notice of my development.
After what turned out to be my breakout season — becoming Formula Foil World Champion, IFCA Vice European Champion, and finishing in the top 10 at both PWA events I entered in 2025 — this moment feels like a natural but very rewarding next step.
For me, this achievement proves that discipline, hard work, and the belief of people who support you can truly lead to great results. It motivates me even more to keep pushing my limits and to represent the Starboard International Team at the highest level.

Looking ahead to this upcoming season - what are your plans, goals and events you plan to attend?

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, my motivation is still extremely high and my goals are very clear. I’m really excited about what’s coming and fully focused on pushing my performance to the next level.
This winter, I’m spending a significant amount of time training in the south of France and in Sardinia to prepare as well as possible for the season ahead. These conditions are perfect to fine-tune my racing, speed and consistency before the first competitions start.
Competition-wise, my main focus will be the PWA Foil Slalom Tour. I’m planning to enter all scheduled events — Sylt, Japan and Qatar — and really see how far I can go over the full season.
In addition to that, I’m aiming to compete at both the IFCA World Championships and European Championships in both disciplines, Fin and Foil. Whenever it fits into my schedule, I also plan to race at selected national events.
Finally, I’m especially excited about attending the Defi Wind for the first time. It’s such an iconic event, and I’m really looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere and challenge it brings.

What message would you like to send to young riders who are thinking of joining the competition?

My message to young riders thinking about joining competitions is simple: don’t be shy and just go for it. First of all, it’s all about enjoying the ride and having fun on the water — the results will come naturally over time.
Try to spend as much time on the water as possible, especially with friends. Sailing together makes everything more enjoyable and at the same time pushes your progression much faster, because you motivate and challenge each other.

Fabian’s journey from the northern coasts of Germany to the top of the slalom world shows that dedication, passion, and persistence truly pay off. As he joins the Starboard Dream Team for 2026, we’re excited to support him on this next chapter and we can’t wait to see him push the limits of speed, precision, and performance on spots around the globe. Fabian is proof that hard work, focus, and a love for the sport can take you to the very top and inspire the next generation of windsurfers along the way.
