Last week, the world’s best slalom racers gathered in Leucate for the prestigious IFCA Fin and Foil World Championship. With a full week of racing across both fin and foil disciplines, the event delivered intense competition, lightwind conditions, and standout performances from the Starboard team. Once again, Starboard riders proved consistency, and championship mindset on the world stage.
Matteo Iachino Claims Foil Vice World Title
One of the biggest highlights for Starboard came from Matteo Iachino, who delivered a superb performance in the Foil Men’s fleet to secure the Vice World Title.
Racing against an elite international lineup, Matteo stayed consistent throughout the week and battled at the very front of the fleet. In the final standings, he finished second overall, adding another major podium result to his already impressive career. Matteo’s performance once again confirmed his position as one of the fastest and most versatile racers in the sport.

Youth Gold for Louise van den Meulen
Another fantastic success for Starboard came through Louise van den Meulen, who captured the Youth Women’s World Title in Leucate.
Winning a world championship at youth level is always a special milestone, and Louise showed great composure and talent throughout the competition. Her victory reflects the bright future of Starboard racing and the next generation of riders already making their mark internationally.

Strong Results Across the Starboard Team
Beyond the podium results, it was fantastic to see strong performances and great sailing from several Starboard riders throughout the event.
Femke Van der Veen showed speed and determination on the racecourse, while Fabian Wolfimpressed with committed racing and solid form. Local French rider Benoit Merc also delivered an inspiring performance in front of the home crowd. It is great to see our riders pushing hard, staying motivated, and building momentum ahead of the upcoming slalom and foil slalom season.
