The 2025 PWA Fuerteventura World Cup was nothing short of spectacular for the Starboard team, with standout performances in both Slalom X and Freestyle that confirmed the skills, talent, and future of our riders on the world stage.
In the Slalom X discipline, Starboard's Matteo Iachino delivered a rock-solid performance, securing an impressive second place overall. His speed, consistency, and tactical skills kept him in contention throughout the week, proving once again why he remains one of the fiercest competitors in the fleet. Matteo was using his Starboard iSONIC 63 on the Slalom X race course.
Matteo Iachino about his racing in Fuerteventura:
"I am really happy about my second place in Fuerteventura Slalom X. It was a long and tough competition. We did twelve eliminations and three discards, which must be a record of the last decade for us! I am happy about my performance throughout the event counting two bullets, a second and one third place. I have been using mostly the iSONIC 63 and a few races the iSONIC 73."

But the spotlight truly belonged to Sarah-Quita Offringa, who dominated the event from start to finish. With her trademark control and acceleration on the racecourse, she claimed the Slalom X event win and, with it, the 2025 Slalom X World Title. Her performance was nothing short of phenomenal, showcasing her versatility and hunger for victory. She was using the iSONIC 63 in every of her races.

As the event transitioned to Freestyle, Sarah-Quita once again raised the bar. With powerful combos and sky-high scores she secured the Freestyle event win on her iGNiTE 93 and clinched her second World Title of the week. This historic moment brought her total to an inspiring 27 World Titles, solidifying her status as one of the greatest windsurfers of all time.

In the men's freestyle fleet, Lennart Neubauer made a strong comeback in the double elimination after an early exit in the single. Finishing 5th at the Fuerteventura World Cup wasn’t the result he was aiming for, but he’s determined to fight for a podium finish at the next World Cup stop in Sylt.

Adding to the excitement, Starboard’s rising star Bijou Shahmirian made waves in the Freestyle competition. At just the beginning of her professional journey, Bijou’s stylish riding and fearless approach turned heads and hinted at a bright future ahead. She's definitely one to watch.
Bijou about her Fuerteventura experience:
"Throughout the event, I was close to landing crucial tricks. In my first heat I was missing to land three moves just at the very end. In the double elimination I was struggling with consistency. Overall though the performance marks a definite step forward from last year. I used the iGNiTE 78L for the entire competition, and I couldn’t be happier with the performance of the board. Even in the choppy and gusty conditions, the board felt super light and responsive, rotating smoothly."
From experienced legends to emerging talent, the Starboard team left its mark on Fuerteventura with power, precision, and passion. With two World Titles and a podium finish in Slalom X, it was a week that will be remembered as a major milestone in our 2025 season.
